LIMITED EDITION OF 1000
Our friend Slick Watts has always embodied what the Sonics mean to Seattle. A point guard on the team from 1973-1978, Slick became an all-star and leader both on and off the court. He was the first player in the NBA to lead the league in assists and steals in one year and was awarded the NBA’s J. Walter Kennedy Citizenship Award for his service in the community in 1976.
Picking up his nickname when he was one of the first players to shave his head - unusual at the time - the man with the headband is a true Seattle legend. Our newest handblown ornament pays homage to him, his incredibly easy-going personality, and the way he famously wore his headband off-center.
After 40 years of service in the Seattle Public School District, Slick is now enjoying retirement while continuing to give back. He is focusing exclusively on community-based projects and helping uplift non-profits and foundations.
To help with this pursuit, $5 from each ornament sold will go to support The Watts Foundation, whose mission is to support youth in need through scholarships to cover out-of-school time activities including team and camp participation, mentorships, academic support, community service & building activities...BECAUSE EVERY CHILD DESERVES AN OPPORTUNITY!
